Simple Quoter

It might look daunting to write trading bots and algorithms to trade via API. But at Thalex, we are convinced that the future belongs to the "retail quant". All you need is your wit and some basic Python skills.

We've made it easier for you to start. We've created the simplest possible, 160 lines of code Python Quoter Bot, that will quote the Perpetual around the mark price.

All you need to do is download it, set up the API key, and you'll be trading safely (with fake money) on TestNet in less than 10 minutes. Even better... we're giving you ABCs for it!

• $250 in ABCs if you run this bot on TestNet and get $20M of maker volume in one trading day
• $250-$1,000 in ABCs extra if you improve the pricing logic beyond its absolute basics and send us your changes

The first task is simple. We wrote a blog post that walks you through the code of the bot, and how to run it. Run it for a few hours, tweak the parameters so you get to $20 Million in maker volume in a trading day, send us the log, get $250 in ABCs. Easy gains! Trading days run from 8am UTC to 8am UTC the next day.

The second task is more interesting, with up to $1,000 in ABCs rewards. Our simple version leaves a lot of room for improvement. The first order of business should be to improve the extremely naive pricing model.

Do you think you can improve it? We're looking for interesting, useful, inventive new pricing ideas implemented in our original script. Send us a screenshot of your new and improved script, and you get another $250 in ABCs. Moreover, we will reward the best submissions with yet another $750 in ABCs (for a maximum total reward of $1250), and share this code on our blog and social media.

FAQ

How will you judge the submissions?

We're looking for code that we really want to show to others. That can be because it is efficient, because it's a smart or unique idea, and/or because it is elegant. Surprise us!

We always prefer simple, clean, readable code.

Will everyone who submits their changes to the script receive $250 in ABCs?

Anyone who makes any useful, reasonable and/or interesting changes to the pricing logic will receive $250 in ABCs.

That said, we reserve the right to reject submissions we deem to be in bad faith. Just changing the parameters or writing one or two lines of code does not constitute "changing" the script.

If my submissions gets featured, will you mention my name?

That depends on you. We will reach out to the winner to ask how they would like to be credited, or if they would like to remain anonymous.

What if I don't want my submission to be shared with the world?

Send us a message ([email protected]) when you sent us your submission. We will not share your code online if you do not want it to be shared. You will still receive the $250 ABC reward for sending us your code, but are not eligible for the extra $750 prize for the best submission.

Campaign Terms

Eligibility

This campaign is open to any retail trader, including those who are not yet Thalex customers. However, since ABCs can only be used by Thalex customers, to claim the reward, you have to apply for a Thalex account within 30 days after the submission deadline.

Duration

This campaign remains ongoing. Thalex reserves the right to end the campaign at its discretion. We will update this page with an end date at least 5 working days in advance.

Reward Cap

Each customer can only claim each of the two rewards once.

Discretion

Thalex reserves the right not to grant rewards in case of any non-compliance with the Terms & Conditions, illicit behavior, or unfair advantage at its own discretion.

Intellectual Property

As a condition of submission, you grant Thalex and its subsidiaries a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, adapt, modify, publish, distribute, publicly perform, create a derivative work from, and publicly display the Submission.

ABCs Fair Use

• Asset Balance Credits, or "ABC", are governed under the Terms of Use.
• ABCs increase Available Margin on an Account. Thalex reserves the right to reverse any granting of ABC in the event of breach of the Terms of Use, including breaches of the Rulebook.
• ABCs don’t expire. However, Thalex reserves the right to remove any ABC balance from an Account following six months of inactivity.
• Thalex is the sole interpreter of the Terms and Conditions of each Campaign, of the Terms of Use and of the Rulebook.
